Nucleus colonies (nucs) will not be available until LATE APRIL/EARLY MAY 2026! By pre-ordering and paying for this product, we can guarantee that you will get a nuc when they become available. No nucs will be available earlier than late April 2026 unless we have sent out notification otherwise.

These nucs are a full 5 deep frames (2-3 brood, 2-3 resources) and include a laying queen. Our bees are a genetic mix of our overwintered stock, our VSH Instrumentally-inseminated Carniolan queen, and known Nebraska overwintered feral colonies.

All nucs are eligible for hands-on practice or learning anytime through the season by appointment, especially for first-year beekeepers. All hives are given a temperament guarantee. I will replace any queens from 2026 nucs that become mean with proven docile stock through August 2026. (This is given at my discretion after a conversation about potential causes of temperament change.) I only ask that you pay shipping if I'm not able to meet.

Successful Beekeeping Course: A course for beginning and experienced beekeepers. Sessions will be available on Youtube via a private link monthly, starting in February and ending in November. We will also do several live sessions, where Matt will be available for questions and to problem-solve things you may be seeing. These will be announced as they are planned.

The course will cover all the information that you would need to have a successful first year of beekeeping, but also address content geared toward more experienced beekeepers working through issues in your hives and time-saving tips and tricks as you grow your apiary. We will look at basic bee biology, equipment options, attaining bees, making honey, pests/pathogens/parasites, wintering successfully, the hive mind, the instincts of honeybees and many many techniques to become a better keeper of bees and also the tactics to increase not just success but production and efficiency as well.

Enrollment in this course qualifies you for invites to all open yard learning days hosted by Lance Honey Farms throughout the season.
